US military to deploy across Saudi Arabia to counter Iran, evade missiles - Defense One
The US military is exploring the use of bases and ports in Western Saudi Arabia to move further away from Iranian missiles.
"...Iran’s ballistic missiles have improved, those [US] bases [near the Persian Gulf] have become increasingly vulnerable, analysts say.
'The Gulf would be contested waters under any scenario of armed conflict with Iran, so you look at the places where you would move your forces as they enter the theater from being in a contested area,' Gen. Frank McKenzie said."
