A Busy Afternoon in the City
It was a cloudy Saturday afternoon, and the city centre was incredibly *crowded. Sam was walking along the pavement while light rain was falling. The streets were very noisy because there was a terrible traffic jam near the main square. Impatient drivers were honking their horns, and busy pedestrians were waiting patiently at the crossroads for the traffic lights to change.
Sam wasn't looking for anything special today; he was just doing some window shopping. After a few minutes, he decided to enter a large shopping mall to escape the cold wind and rain. Inside, the atmosphere was warm, bright, and full of life. Hundreds of people were walking around the different stores. Some teenagers were talking and laughing near the fast-food restaurants, while families were looking at winter clothes.
Sam took the escalator up to the second floor. He walked into a popular shoe shop because a pair of dark brown boots suddenly caught his eye. A friendly shop assistant was helping another customer when Sam picked up the boots to check the price. He tried them on, and they fitted perfectly.
He went to the checkout desk, but he had to stand in a long queue. Finally, it was his turn. The cashier smiled, scanned the boots, and Sam paid by credit card. He carefully took his receipt and put it in his wallet.
Outside, the rain was still pouring heavily. Sam didn't want to walk back in the bad weather, so he hurried to the nearest bus stop. He was waiting for public transport when he realized he was feeling quite hungry after his long afternoon in the city.
